KIPP's Expansion Plans

In order to focus on the expansion of our current regions and to provide needed targeted support to our current new cities, KIPP has taken a pause on new site selection. Based on our 2015 Imperatives, we are focusing on growing within our existing regions. During this time, we will be determining conditions for new site selection.

To see a list of KIPP's current schools and regions, please use the Find a KIPP School box on the left.

To apply to found and lead a new KIPP school in one of our existing regions, please visit our School Leaders section. If you have additional questions, please email our Network Services Team.

International Schools

At this time, there are no KIPP schools outside of the United States, and while we do not have plans to start KIPP schools outside the US, we have begun to support educators from other countries to start their own schools inspired by KIPP. We are training international educators with the same leadership skills that we train our own KIPP school leaders. We are referring to this international training as our Global Fellowship and are working with a new partner organization, TOWNS – The One World Network of Schools, to identify and select Global Fellows.

To learn more about our Global Fellowship and schools inspired by KIPP, please contact Aaron Brenner, TOWNS Co-Founder and Executive Director.

KIPP Model, Curriculum, & Results

KIPP Model

Our model is based upon a core set of operating principals called the Five Pillars, created by our founders in 1994 when they formed the first KIPP school. Most other aspects of KIPP schools are highly localized and customized by the school leader for the respective communities they serve.

KIPP's growth model is that of opening schools with one grade and growing them over time, and our expansion will continue to come through new KIPP schools. We have a program called the Fisher Fellowship, which is a part of our KIPP School Leadership Programs (KSLP), through which individuals are trained to found and lead new KIPP schools.

If you have additional questions, please email our Recruitment & Selection Team, or call Maggie Mangan, Recruitment Specialist, at 415-874-7391.

KIPP Curriculum

While many KIPP teachers share the same approach to teaching and use common methods (chants, songs, etc.) to make learning fun and invest students, there actually is no uniform KIPP curriculum or tool. What goes on in each individual school and each classroom varies. The schools and their successes are highly dependent on the creativity of the teachers and leaders.

The best way to understand the KIPP model is to visit a KIPP school. Please use the Find a KIPP School box on the left to select your city to contact the closest school to you.

Partnerships with KIPP Schools

There are currently 162 locally run KIPP schools across the country. Because each KIPP school is managed locally, partnership decisions are made at the level of the individual school. The best way to partner with a KIPP school is to find a KIPP school near you, and talk with the school leader or a staff member, or even schedule a visit. Please use the Find a KIPP School box on the left to select your city to find the closest school to you.

School Data

The KIPP Report Card is our primary vehicle for sharing data publicly. We also publish and share reports that provide more detail on specific topics, which we have done most recently with the College Completion Report. All of our reports are listed within the Results section of our website.

If you have additional questions, please email our Research & Evaluation Team.

Donations and Support

Philanthropic support for the KIPP Foundation's activities ensures that current and future KIPP schools have the resources necessary to help their students climb the mountain to and through college. By partnering with the Foundation, individuals and organizations are making a difference in the lives of more than 59,000 children across the country, proving what is possible in public education and setting an example for thousands more.

These retreats foster a rich environment for sharing, collaboration, and networking opportunities for KIPP staff and, in the case of KIPP School Summit, for KIPP board members, funders, and supporters as well. KSS draws over 3,000 people who represent various KIPP regions and schools, who come together for a week of power-packed learning and sharing, and also to celebrate the past year and re-energize for the upcoming school year.

KIPP School Summit 2014 will take place July 28–31, 2014 in Houston, TX. If you have questions about the KIPP School Summit, please email our Events Team.
