KIPP Polaris Academy for Boys is a KIPP college preparatory middle school located in the North Forest area of Houston. KIPP Polaris offers a rigorous academic program, as well as a structured disciplined environment. Students and parents sign an agreement that requires attendance from 7:15 am to 5:00 pm, two hours of homework each day during the week, two half days of Saturday school per month, and approximately four weeks of summer session.
The young men who attend KIPP Polaris Academy for Boys will be equipped with the academic skills, social competencies, and character traits necessary to navigate life challenges, attend and complete the college of their choice, and return to become the leaders of their community.
The vision of KIPP Polaris Academy for Boys is that within fifteen years of its opening, an alumnus of the school will take leadership of the academy and, together with other emerging leaders from his class, reshape the northeastern region of Houston using a plan of their own design.
Support - As a network of public charter schools, KIPP schools receive the majority of their funds from state and federal governments. However, KIPP offers much more than traditional schools, including an extended school day, week and year, field trips and extracurricular activities. To provide KIPP’s unique educational program, schools rely on support from community members, parents and local foundations.
